Thought for the Week

How Would You Handle: When you (supervisor) arrive at work in the morning you find a note Joe (an employee) left you regarding something that happened on the night shift last night..

An employee (Bob) had an unexpected visitor – a female and they were embracing! Joe was not only embarrassed, but offended. This is a work place after all!!!

Your first thought as a manager is "You've got to be kidding!"

You know that Joe and Bob have never gotten along.  Bob is young, energetic, putting himself through school - you've really been impressed with what you have seen and have high hopes that he could be your replacement someday.  Joe, on the other hand always seem to find some problem... 

However, if it's true, it does go against company policy. 
You really don't want to have to confront Bob about this.  Now what do you do?  You would really like to pretend you never saw Joe's note.

You:
A.  Ignore and Hope Joe doesn't ask you about.
B.  Confront Bob and explain his behaviors are a violation of company policy and if it happens again, you will have no choice to but to let him go.
C.  Investigate to see if there is any merit to Joe's complaint.
D.  Confront Joe and tell him to back off, Bob is a great employee and he needs to quit trying to create problems that aren't there.
